While wandering through Sefton Park, I came across this statue perched on top of the fountain, holding a bow as if he’d just released an arrow. I loved how the bright sunshine was reflected on the statue and the sense of movement in the pose, so I decided to paint him.
Turns out he’s technically Eros, not Cupid (the fountain is officially called the Eros Fountain), but I’d already started thinking of him as Cupid, so the name stuck 🙂
