Another plein air session in Sudley Fields. I was wandering around Sudley Fields when this beautiful tree caught my eye. Thinking about how long it has stood here, long before me and long after me, is fascinating. This time I intentionally experimented with a variety of brushes to create more interesting textures. I also desaturated the colours with a touch of white to make the overall palette feel more harmonious. Over the past few months, I’ve been watching lots of painting tutorials and studying other artists’ work. It’s been really rewarding to take those ideas into my own painting practice and experiment with them while painting outdoors. Oil on canvas board, 25 × 30 cm.
