I went to Holt Field for a plein air session, with a view of Mossley Hill parish church rising above the trees. The weather was sunny but quite windy. The fluffy white clouds were moving quickly across the sky and the shadows kept changing. I challenged myself to build up the layers more patiently until I was happy with the colours and brushstrokes. When I started painting the field was very quiet, but before long I was surrounded by young children practising football. Lovely to see the field come to life. Oil on canvas, 25 × 25 cm.
